Overkill, Brighton, London… GLADE

For those of you lucky enough to be going to the Glade festival this year, as usual our friends at Littlebig/Overkill will be putting on one of the most forward thinking lineups of the year at the Overkill stage.

For those of you who wont, hopefully you will be able to see some of the choice acts who are now in the country at a couple of the Glade warm-up shows.

Tonight it’s Venetian Snares and DJ Assault at the Volks Club, Brighton. Support comes from long time Brighton electronic stalwarts and sound makers, DJ Reteric, Dr Bastardo, Syntheme [just added!], Floorclearer and KJ Sawka.

Then tomorrow night check Snares, DJ Assault and Enduser up at the Electrowerkz, London.

Overkill - PRE-GLADE

i.e… you should go to these!!

Andre Duracell

Andrew Duracell is a pretty interesting guy. We caught him play a small show here in Brighton, but he’s a friend of Stephané Obadia (Nudist With a Laptop / Rob Steady). Anyway, the guy uses some sort of midi setup on his drumkit to trigger 8-bit samples on a laptop, recreating retro computer game classic theme tunes.

This is cool and so on… (MySpace) Continue reading ‘Andre Duracell’

And Now…

A new release for you this very evening!
Net-Lab presents…

NL28 - John Cohen - John Cohen.
John Cohen - John Cohen

John Cohen’s eponymous release is pregnant with tension and darkness drenched in high-pitched squeals and thunderous low end. Opener, “{*}”, is a drunken dub sea-shanty, meandering through the broken hulks of sunken subs and the threadbare sails of pirate galleons: the washed out sounds of sirens and broken beats is warped until only echos remain. ~*§*~ has a wonderful mix of structure and “unstructure”.

Enjoy!

Photographers, animators, video makers?

We are looking for potential visual artists, working in the fields of photography, animation and video, to showcase on Net-Lab’s “Image” and “Video” categories.

If you have material which you think might be suitable, send us a link to: submissions@net-lab.co.uk
