In the spirit of presenting some of the best lineups that have been seen this side of the earth, All Tomorrow’s Parties have some great events lined up for the remaining couple of months this year, including Low at Camden’s beautiful KoKo club on Nov 19th, Deerhoof at the ULU on Dec 2nd, Isis at the Scala on Dec 4th, plus Squarepusher + LFO at the Astoria on Dec 9th. Incredible stuff really.

All Tomorrow’s Parties have announced an impressive lineup for 2008’s Nightmare Before Christmas annual 3-dayer at Minehead. Curated by the Melvins and Mike Patton, the lineup now boasts Squarepusher, Fantomas, Dalek, Leila, Rahzel, Fennesz, Kool Keith and lots more.
Very happy to see Leila on the lineup, following her ‘08 album on Warp Records which I have struggled to remove from my playlist ever since - a really diverse album bringing together elements of avant garde electronica, deep bass (maybe dubstep influenced?) in tunes like Mettle, and just some plain great vocal work from guests like familiar guest vocalist Martina Topley Bird on “Deflect”. Leila’s set supporting Bjork’s Volta tour was not quite as impressive as could have been imagined, but nevertheless. Well worth seeing.

RCRD LBL
One of the most talked about music sites of the last 12 months has undoubtedly been RCRD LBL, Downtown Records‘ online incarnation. It would be easy to take a skeptical view of this kind of venture, but instead we are embracing the arrival of a high quality mainstream net label, and enjoying the prospect of this medium becoming more accessible and widespread.
RCRD LBL has some impressive sponsorship from brands including Puma, Virgin America and Nikon and has tunes available from acts on Warp, Dim Mak and Modular, to name a few.
Certainly these guys have taken a progressive approach to free downloads, reconsidering their distribution model rather than prosecuting fans, unlike many of the other sinking ships out there. Plus you can download some pretty good tunes from some bands you’ll recognise.
Enjoy.

Last month’s Klaxons DJs booking which sadly fell through at the last minute here in Brighton was covered by none other than our very own TV Youth. A fun time was had by all thanks to an ecclectic mix of indie-electro-electronica-dubstep smashers, and an array of his own new material. Wow.
